Heartland Hope Mission Seeking Donations to Repair Crumbling Parking Lot
Heartland Hope Mission is seeking donations to go toward repaving the parking lot at their South Omaha location. The parking lot is crumbling before their eyes, and clients needing pantry services must avoid potholes and chunks of pavement en route to receiving food. In fact, the lot is in such disrepair that semi-trucks with food donations cannot pull in to deliver food. That’s why Heartland Hope is turning to the Omaha community for financial assistance to ensure the safety of their clients and efficiency of running a food pantry aimed at ending regional hunger.
Heartland Hope Mission operates one of the largest food pantries in the state but is more than a pantry because they also help families work toward self-sufficiency. They serve primarily working-poor families and those who may be facing a crisis situation with a week’s supply of food, clothing, diapers, job resources, and community referrals.
Since the COVID pandemic hit, Heartland Hope has been serving double the families they normally would.
