Greater Omaha Area Bowling Association Supports Papillion’s Veterans Park Project

The Greater Omaha Area Bowling Association (http://www.gobowlomaha.org/) in partnership with their Bowlers to Veteran’s Link donated $500 to the Papillion Community Foundation (www.papillionfoundation.org) for the Veterans Park project. The Veterans Park is a newly designated park in Papillion which celebrates the service of Sarpy County veterans.

The park project which is collaboration with the Papillion Community Foundation, City of Papillion and Papillion American Legion Post #32 has seen the completion of the first design phase which includes flags and flag poles for all military branches, benches and the Honor Walls which hold the names of more than four hundred local veterans. Future designs for the park include a military timeline, events plaza and pergola.

The Veterans Park project began with the work of several community organizations including the Papillion Junior Women’s Club, the Papillion Garden Club and City Council members Jason Gaines and Steve Engberg along with the City of Papillion. The Papillion Community Foundation has been working with the Papillion American Legion Post #32 to help raise funds for the park costs.
