Goodwill Industries, Inc., (goodwillomaha.org) Serving Eastern Nebraska and Southwest Iowa, has announced its participation in two career fairs this month: one at its corporate headquarters in Omaha and another, which offers an exclusive interview hour for people with disabilities, in Council Bluffs.
On Tuesday, October 8, Goodwill’s Find Your Future Career Fair will feature approximately 40 employers, including Cox Communications, Hy-Vee, First National Bank of Omaha, and Caesars Entertainment. The event will be held at Goodwill Omaha’s headquarters at 4805 N. 72nd St. in Omaha. Doors will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), which raises awareness about employment issues that people with disabilities often encounter and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year, Goodwill Industries is a sponsor of the NDEAM Career Fair, which will be held on Wednesday, October 23, at the Omni Centre Business Park, 300 W. Broadway, in Council Bluffs. People with disabilities will be able to enter the career fair at 10 a.m., giving them an hour to meet employers. Doors open to the general public at 11 a.m., and the career fair will run until 2 p.m.
Goodwill staff will also attend the NDEAM Career Fair, as will leaders of Goodwill’s AbilityOne program, an employment program that provides training and part-time job opportunities at federal properties for individuals with disabilities, giving them the chance to experience positive, supportive work environments.
