El Museo Latino Announces Current Exhibits on Display

El Museo Latino (www.elmuseolatino.org), a local nonprofit collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting Latino arts of the Americas, has three exhibits currently on display: the Smithsonian Institution “Dolores Huerta: Revolution in the Fields” on view through September 26 and “Picasso: Master in Clay” and “Mouly on the Move” on view through August 22. The organization also hosts community events featuring traditional celebrations, Latino history, and culture throughout the year highlighting Cinco de Mayo, Hispanic Heritage, Day of the Dead/Día de Muertos, and Las Posadas.

Opened in 1993 as the first Latino art and history museum, El Museo Latino is one of only 17 Latino museums in the United States. As the only Latino museum in the Midwest, El Museo Latino presents five to seven exhibits each year as well as educational and community programs, and artist residencies. The museum offers humanities programs that feature local and visiting scholars and artists through presentations, scholarly lectures, films, and discussion opportunities.

El Museo Latino is committed to strengthening the artistic and creative culture of the Greater Omaha Area through the presentation of Latino arts by providing direct support to local artists, increasing the visibility of Latino art forms, and fostering an appreciation of art for the benefit of a diverse audience. The museum is located at 4701 S 25 St. For questions and additional information, please visit www.elmuseolatino.org or call (402) 731-1137.
