The Completely KIDS Guild announced Jody Carstens as the recipient of the 2012 Leiferman Leadership Award at the guild annual meeting on Nov. 28.
Carstens is the owner of Restaurants, Inc., which operates restaurants throughout Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and South Dakota. She was a former member of the guild and currently serves on the Completely KIDS board of directors. Carstens is also one of the founding members of Pinot, Pigs & Poets, an annual wine and pork tasting fundraising event in support of Completely KIDS.
Recently, at the grand reopening of Stokes Grill & Bar, a Restaurants, Inc., establishment, Carstens donated the proceeds from beverage sales to Completely KIDS. She’s often hosted children in the Completely KIDS program at various restaurants, offering them an educational and interactive activity topped with a delicious meal.
The Leiferman Leadership Award is in its second year and was created to honor the guild’s founding president, Cindy Leiferman. Under Leiferman’s leadership, the guild raised more than $1 million since its start in 2002.
