City Sprouts will host a benefit gala, “Sprouting New Growth”, on Sunday, August 18th from 2-4 p.m. at Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha.  This event is presented by Gala Chair Lindsey Rai Ehlers and Honorary Chairs Dr. Ken and Annie Bird.  City Sprouts invites the community to join them for wine, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and live music provided by The Goodlife Jazz Trio. Tickets are $50 per person, which also includes two drink coupons.  There will also be reserved tables with seating for 10 available for $500.

As Omaha’s first community garden, started in 1995, City Sprouts maintains community and family gardens in their half-acre plot at 40th and Franklin Streets in the Orchard Hill Neighborhood of North Omaha.  They also have a half-acre urban farm site just 1.5 blocks away on Decatur Street that was started in 2009.  City Sprouts works with Omaha area residents and volunteers to grow vegetables, flowers, and herbs using environmentally responsible and sustainable gardening techniques-their mission is to sustain communities through gardening.
