Child Saving Institute (CSI) announces Debra Kaplan and the Council Bluffs Police Department (CBPD) as the 2026 Jason Award recipients, honoring their dedication to strengthening and protecting local children and communities. CSI is proud to continue the Children’s Square campus tradition of celebrating individuals and organizations who embody compassion, resilience and service to others.

Kaplan and the CBPD will be presented with their Jason Awards at Culinary Remix on Friday, Aug. 21 at the Mid-America Center. Culinary Remix reimagines the long-standing Jason Awards event with a vibrant, ‘90s-themed evening featuring live music, food and drinks—all in support of CSI’s mission to champion what’s best for each child and family.

The Jason Awards date back to 1983, when Children’s Square established the honor as a lasting symbol of hope and the “spirit of youth”—energy, optimism and possibility. Children’s Square campus became part of CSI in the fall of 2025 and CSI remains committed to honoring the legacy tradition of presenting the Jason Awards.

Today, the legacy continues through honorees like Kaplan and the CBPD. Kaplan has donated photography and media services to local nonprofits for years to help them share their stories of impact. The CBPD works tirelessly to protect children and families, fostering a safe community in Council Bluffs.
