Chefs to Compete in 13th Annual Comfort Food Classic to Benefit Grief’s Journey
Six local gourmet chefs and three bakers will face off in a culinary competition Sunday, October 13, to raise funds for Grief’s Journey’s (www.griefsjourney.org) free support programs. The 13th Annual Comfort Food Classic takes place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Hilton Hotel, 1001 Cass St. Guests will vote on their favorite savory dishes and desserts.
For the first time, the event will feature a patron reception beforehand showcasing various wine and whiskey samplings from Spirit World. The event will also include a live donation appeal with a matching donor and a silent auction.
Comfort Food Classic is Grief’s Journey’s largest fundraiser, which raised $86,000 in 2018. The generosity of donors helps Grief’s Journey provides free grief support programs for all ages throughout the Omaha metro area.
“We’re grateful to the staff and support at Grief’s Journey for helping us walk through the most difficult time in our lives,” Sarah, Shawnee and Lucas, a Grief’s Journey family, said.
Competitors include: Dario’s Brassiere, Liberty Tavern, Mode de Vie, MCC Institute for Culinary Arts, Society 1854, Via Farina, Cake Creations, The Omaha Bakery, and Sugar Coma Custom Treats.
Since 2001, Grief’s Journey has been a welcoming, safe place where grieving children, teens and adults find hope. As the region’s cornerstone for grief support, Grief’s Journey provides free peer support programs as well as training, education, consultation throughout Nebraska and Iowa.
