The Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Lincoln recently awarded $13,455 to forty-one parishes across the Diocese for religious education programs through its Grant Program for Parish Religious Education.  The Foundation’s Grade School and Religious Education Endowment Fund provided the money for the grant program.  Since its beginning in 2000, the Grant Program for Parish Religious Education has given a total of $186,838 to parishes across southern Nebraska.  The grants are part of $673,123 that the Foundation distributed during the current fiscal year.

At its last meeting the Catholic Foundation also thanked its outgoing board members; Doug Pfeifer of Lincoln, Rick Lange of Lincoln, Michael Mullally of Seward, Phil Froeschl of Falls City, and Dr. Dan Mazour of Franklin.  They served on the Foundation board from 2005 – 2011, which saw the Foundation increase in total assets from $22 million to over $32 million dollars.  All of the Foundation’s assets are restricted for the benefit of parishes, Catholic schools and organizations across the Diocese of Lincoln.

The grant program for parish religious education is an annual opportunity for diocesan parishes to receive money for their religious education programs.  Gifts made to the Grade School and Religious Education Endowment Fund help support the program.  For more information on how to support the endowment, contact the Foundation at (402) 488-2142 or email michael-henkenius@lincolndiocese.org.
