Canopy South is the nonprofit organization leading the holistic revitalization of neighborhoods in south Omaha by implementing a multifaceted approach by developing mixed-income housing, supporting education, enhancing community vibrancy and increasing economic mobility. Over the next six years, Southside Terrace – the largest public housing site in the state of Nebraska (30 acres, 359 units) – will be demolished in phases. In partnership with the Omaha Housing Authority and the City of Omaha, over 750 mixed-income units will be developed. Roughly one third will serve as replacement units for public housing residents, one third will be affordable, while the remaining one third will be rented at market rate. For more information visit
