Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands Returns to In-Person Meetings
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands (https://www.bbbsomaha.org/) announced in July that Bigs and Littles have started meeting in-person again. After months of seeing each other only on computer screens, matches were thrilled to start coming face-to-face again. In fact, Big Sister Michaela and Little Sister Madeline were the organization’s first virtual match back in April, and in July, became one of the first virtual matches to meet in person.
Because Big Brothers Big Sisters has the health and safety of all those involved in the program at heart, they require approval from Littles’ parents before an in-person meeting or outing can take place. Although the rain and mask-muffled conversation made for a bit of a challenge for Michaela and Madeline, they laughed the entire time they were together. More Bigs are always needed to get in on the laughter with our youth, though.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands strives for all youth in the program to reach their full potential. A Big Brother, Big Sister, or Big Couple provides youth with a sense of safety and security, emotional support, and social skill promotion. Bigs and Littles are matched based on common interests so they can have the benefit of doing activities together that they both enjoy. With a Big by their side, more Littles are discovering who they are and what they can achieve in life.
