Big Brothers Big Sisters Announces NFL Watch Party, Positive Male Figure Fall Campaign
In support of their national partner, the NFL, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands (BBBS; www.bbbsomaha.org) is hosting a football watch party on Monday, November 14, as a way to attract some more positive male figures to be Big Brothers. Anyone who would like to attend is welcome to come to DJ’s Dugout in Bellevue off Cornhusker at 6:30 p.m. before the 7:20 p.m. kickoff of the Pittsburg Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns game. There will be food, drinks, games, prop bets, prizes, and information about the BBBS program.
In addition, Big Brothers Big Sisters has officially kicked off their Positive Male Figure Fall campaign (follow the hashtag #PMFF). There are currently 84 young men on the waiting list for a Big Brother. With over 120 kids on the waiting list total, it’s evident that there is a large disparity in the amount of male mentors needed for this program. BBBS is encouraging the community to tell a friend, brother, cousin, dad, and any other trustworthy man you know to become a mentor.
For 60 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands has operated under the belief that every child has the inherent ability to succeed and thrive in life. As a donor and volunteer-supported organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers and children, ages 7–18, through the Omaha, Bellevue, and Council Bluffs area. Learn more about BBBS or how to become a Big at www.bbbsomaha.org or call (402) 505-3075.
