The Bacchanalian Society of Omaha’s winter competitive wine tasting raised over $3,600 and collected over 600 pounds of food at Food Bank for the Heartland on Friday, February 13. Over 200 people on 77 teams participated in the competitive wine tasting event featuring red blend varietals.
At the event, teams of two or three individuals entered three bottles of the same wine into the competition. Participants voted on their favorite wines and the winners were rewarded with a collection of wines from all wines entered into the competition. The winning wines from the event were First place: Spaghetti Red (California); Second place: Calamity Jane (South Dakota); and Third place: Cocobon Vineyards Red Blend (California).
The Bacchanalian Society of Omaha is modeled after a group in Cincinnati and is focused on celebration and philanthropy. The event at Food Bank for the Heartland was the society’s third event in Omaha. The Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands and The First Tee of Omaha were previous beneficiaries.
