Avenue Scholars (avescholars.org) launched its popular summer Boot Camp, where Scholars gain invaluable hands-on experience by working directly with businesses in the Omaha area.
The Avenue Scholars summer Boot Camp offers a transformative experience for Scholars, bridging the gap between education and career aspirations and providing hands-on work opportunities that are both educational and inspiring. Scholars engage directly with industry professionals, gaining invaluable insights and practical skills in real-world environments.
Whether working on team projects, shadowing mentors or tackling specific tasks, Scholars experience first-hand the dynamics of various careers. This exposure not only enhances their technical abilities but also cultivates essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving.
As of 2023, Scholars are employed at 433 unique businesses.
Avenue Scholars is always looking to partner with additional area businesses in six high-demand, financially sustaining career areas:

- Trades/Manufacturing/Engineering

This year’s summer Boot Camp is in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Education, with an intentional focus on recruiting underrepresented genders within the fields of IT, Trades/Manufacturing/Engineering and Auto/Diesel. Avenue Scholars’ goal is to help Scholars break into these industries to start meaningful careers while supporting the evolving demands of the workforce.
