Assistance League® of Omaha Sponsors Operation School Bell®
The Assistance League® of Omaha (www.alomaha.org) sponsored this year’s Operation School Bell®, which took place from October 9 to 21. The Operation School Bell program provides new clothes for children in partnership with JCPenney at Westroads Mall.
This program clothed 4,300 children this year from 195 schools in 10 school districts in the greater Omaha area. Many of these children have never had new clothes, and the post-event survey showed that these children have a better self-image, thus doing better in school. Each school is allotted a number of students who may participate in Operation School Bell. The number is based on the school’s poverty level and student enrollment. School personnel select their students who are in the greatest need of this support. If parents wish to have their child invited to participate in Operation School Bell, they must contact their school as all recommendations are the responsibility of each schools’ Operation School Bell contact, generally the school counselor, social worker, or nurse.
The Assistance League of Omaha’s mission is to provide assistance in transforming the lives of children and adults through community programs. The Assistance League recently attained the 2018 GreatNonProfits award and the Platinum level with GuideStar.
