Assistance League® of Omaha Replaces Christmas Caravan with Fundraising Drive

The Assistance League® of Omaha’s (ALO, alomaha.org) Christmas Caravan Tour of Homes is another casualty of COVID 19, as the organization was forced to cancel the event for the first time since its inception in 1975. The need for the proceeds from the event is, however, greater than ever given the number of people who have lost their jobs, so ALO is launching a Christmas Caravan fundraiser in its place. They are asking people who have attended the Tour of Homes in the past to donate the amount they would usually spend on tickets and items from their boutiques, and also are seeking donations from anyone else in the community who can help.

Donations to ALO go toward funding a number of tremendous causes. For example, ALO annually invites 2,000-4,000 school children in need to participate in their Operation School Bell program, which works in partnership with JC Penney to get warm school clothes and shoes to them. Donations also are needed to fund ALO’s other philanthropic programs, including Operation Literacy, Operation Teen Parent, Assault Survivors Kits, Operation Bear Hug, Operation Recovery, and ACT/ PSAT. If you would like to donate, visit alomaha.org or send a check to Assistance League of Omaha, 8502 West Center Rd. 68124. (Please write “Christmas Caravan” on the memo line of your check.) This year’s donations are 100% tax deductible.

Assistance League® of Omaha is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit service organization whose members identify, develop, implement, and fund ongoing philanthropic programs to serve specific needs of local children and adults in the Greater Omaha area.
