Assistance League® of Omaha Presents Two Awards at Christmas Caravan Fundraiser

Assistance League® of Omaha (www.alomaha.org) held its major fundraising event, Christmas Caravan, on November 8. A preview Gala dinner was held the evening before which included an online auction and live auction to raise money. In addition, Assistance League presented two awards at the dinner in recognition of a person and a foundation for their outstanding service to and support of Assistance League.

The Crystal Bell Award is given to honor an individual who has given continued support to Assistance League of Omaha through time, money, or service. This was presented to Mike Lenz, general manager of Westroads’ JCPenney’s store, for his support during Operation School Bell®.

The Caring Hands Award is presented to an individual, business, or corporation that has a family affiliation with Assistance League. This was presented to the Leland and Dorothy Olson Foundation for their continued support.

The money raised at this event will be used to fund ongoing philanthropic programs to serve the needs of children and adults in the Greater Omaha area. Assistance League of Omaha is a totally volunteer organization supported by donations, grants, and proceeds from the Christmas Caravan and the Thrift Shop. These programs include: Operation School Bell, Operation Recovery, Operation Teen Parent, Operation Bear Hug, Operation Literacy and ACT/PSAT Review Sessions.
