Amplify Arts Announces Upcoming Working Artist Wednesdays Topics

Working Artist Wednesdays (WAW) is Amplify Arts’ (www.amplifyarts.org) series of professional development workshops for artists. Included as part of an Amplify Arts Artist membership, each four-month-long unit is designed to strengthen peer networks and relationships with arts professionals, promote collaborative learning, and give working artists the tools they need to apply for grants, exhibitions, and residencies with confidence. Artists will learn to successfully start and run small business and tap into national and local resources.

To kick off 2019, Amplify Arts’ first WAW unit will cover what artists need to build a solid packet of materials when applying for grant, exhibition, and residency opportunities. Cost is $5 per session, or free with purchase of an artist membership ($60). Participants can expect to revise and refine their artist statements, elevator pitches, resumes and CVs, work documentation, and project proposals. Session leaders will work with participants to help demystify application processes and what juries look for when reviewing and evaluating application materials.

Upcoming dates and topics for the first WAW unit are as follows:

  • January 2, 6:30 p.m.: Artist Statements and Elevator pitches
  • February 6, 6:30 p.m.: Resumes & CVs
  • March 6, 6:30 p.m.: Digital Resources and Documentation (*at DoSpace)
  • April 3, 6:30 p.m.: Project Proposals 101

*All WAW sessions will take place at Amplify Arts, located at 1419 S. 13th St., STE 103, in Little Bohemia, unless otherwise noted.
