NAWIC Commemorates Women in Construction Week Set for March 6-12

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC, www.nawicomaha.com) Greater Omaha Chapter #116 is excited to celebrate Women in Construction Week, or WIC Week. This year’s WIC Week will be held March 6 – 12 and will celebrate, educate, and promote the role of women in the construction industry. NAWIC first held WIC Week in 1998 and it has grown and expanded each year since.

The theme for this year’s WIC Week is “Envision Equity” which seeks to raise awareness of opportunities for women to enjoy a wide range of roles in the construction industry, from tradeswomen to project managers to administrative positions and even business ownership. Construction firms of all sizes and types are encouraged to participate in WIC Week and show support for their women employees and perhaps host an event for women interested in construction careers.

The National Association of Women in Construction Greater Omaha Chapter #116 has scheduled a week of fun events to celebrate. Plans include a Lunch & Learn, blood drive, jobsite tour at Buena Vista High School, a networking happy hour, and more. Visit www.nawicomaha.com to learn more about these events.
