NAWIC Celebrates Women in Construction Week in March, Recaps Events and Activities
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC, www.nawicomaha.com) Greater Omaha Chapter #116 celebrated Women in Construction (WIC) Week, March 6-12, with several events and activities.
WIC Week kicked off on Sunday, March 6, with a social media TikTok challenge. Construction employees were invited to show off the office side and construction side of their work. On Monday, WIC Week entered the office and job site, and participants were encouraged to wear their NAWIC gear to show their support for women in construction.
A blood drive was held Tuesday to encourage donors to contribute to the dangerously low blood supply that is affecting the nation right now. Wednesday included a Lunch & Learn event, in which Total Tool/3M presented at the College of Engineering (Kiewit Hall) in Lincoln. Thursday, NAWIC members toured Buena Vista High School, which is scheduled for completion May 31.
On Friday, NAWIC members read the construction book Build It by Laura Seitz Danielsen to local elementary students and donated copies of the book to their libraries. Later that day, they enjoyed a networking happy hour at DJ’s Dugout Sports Bar in Aksarben Village. WIC Week concluded on Saturday with bowling at The Mark with friends and family.
