The Nonprofit Association of the Midlands (NAM, nonprofitam.org) presented Girls Inc. with its Catalyst Award on November 10, at the organization’s 16th annual Nonprofit Summit of the Midlands. The Catalyst Award recognizes an organization that has made an impact in the nonprofit community.

Girls Inc. was selected for effectively, intentionally, and authentically creating an inclusive culture across its programs, clients, staff, and operations. Girls Inc.’s standard of how nonprofits should operate sets an example for the entire Omaha community and aligns perfectly with the Summit’s theme of “Moments to Movements.” The past two years have proven that nonprofits know how to respond quickly to the issues of the moment and do what needs to be done to help the people and communities they serve to survive and thrive.

This year’s Summit connected 350 nonprofit executives, employees, board members, and volunteers from Nebraska and Iowa.

Girls Inc. provides programs and experiences that inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold to create a vision for a bright, healthy future. It operates two centers in north Omaha and south Omaha and serves hundreds of girls every day through education programs and services including transportation, counseling, and healthy meals and snacks.

Nonprofit Association of the Midlands strengthens the collective voice, leadership, and capacity of nonprofits to enrich the quality of community life throughout Nebraska and Western Iowa. For more information, visit nonprofitam.org or call (402) 557-5800.
