Methodist Jennie Edmundson’s Volunteer Program Accepting New Volunteers
Methodist Jennie Edmundson (MJE, jehfoundation.org) is welcoming new volunteers into their Volunteer Program to join their incredibly compassionate team who are the heart and soul of their hospital. MJE volunteers help improve a patient’s stay at the hospital, whether helping doctors and nurses, delivering newspapers and flowers, or working in the gift shop or information desk. Volunteer opportunities also include non-patient/visitor contact but ultimately everyone works together to promote the wellbeing and safety of MJE’s patients.
“It’s been great to have volunteers in positions that truly boost the patient and visitor experience and provide benefits to hospital staff,” said Mike Skipton, Hospital Auxiliary board president. “My wife and I are longtime volunteers at Jennie. One area I enjoy volunteering is in the West Lobby entrance, both morning and afternoon shifts. It can often be like Grand Central Station. Patients and visitors stop there first when entering the hospital. West Lobby tasks include assisting anyone who needs a wheelchair, escorting patients and visitors to designated areas—basically extending a helpful hand and a courteous smile to those walking in the hospital door.”
The Jennie Edmundson Hospital Foundation is indebted to the longtime support they have received from large and small communities across southwest Iowa and the Omaha metro area.
