July 14 was a special day at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home.  Not only did the date mark the four-year anniversary of its opening, but held in conjunction was a dedication of newly installed bio-retention gardens and a groundbreaking event for the Legacy Veterans Memorial Garden.  The groundbreaking initiates Phase One of the project.

The garden will encompass a 5-acre space behind the Veterans’ Home.  The Legacy Veterans Group continues an on-going fundraising effort to construct and maintain the memorial garden at the veterans’ home.  Anybody can purchase a brick for $100, with proceeds going to the garden.

Please visit www.lvgnebraska.com for more information about the garden or http://www.dhhs.ne.gov/Veterans/  to learn more about the Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home.

The Veterans’ Home is a facility operated by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
