Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy (HETRA, hetra.org) is pleased to announce their upcoming Veterans events in July. They will begin with a Veterans Coffee Hour on Friday, July 15, from 9 to 10 a.m. This is an opportunity to share stories, memories, and current veteran community needs, all while watching the HETRA horses get ready for the day. Later that afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. is the Veteran & First Responder Experience. Take part in equine-assisted services and discover how HETRA’s partners assist them with leadership, problem-solving, and communication. These events offer a comfortable and supportive environment for all Veterans, active duty military, first responders, spouses, significant others, caregivers, and children (5 years or older). Participants will learn more about HETRA and their mission, and will have the opportunity to work hands-on with their horses.
Finally, on Saturday, July 16 is the Veterans Project Team from 9 to 11:30 a.m. During Veterans Project Team, a group of veterans will meet to enjoy a time of fellowship as well as putting to use their skills and talents. They will also work on large-scale projects such as building, painting, and repairs around the facility, as well as gardening and landscaping.
The mission of Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy is to improve the quality of life both physically and emotionally of adults and children of all ability levels through equine-assisted activities.
