Dr. Brad Schmitt opened Schmitt Chiropractic & Rehab at 156th and Maple in July of 2012. He enjoys working with all ages of patients, whether people have an acute injury or chronic pain. In addition to chiropractic care, Kinesiology Taping, functional rehabilitation, and Active Release Technique, Dr. Schmitt has added a new treatment method called Trigger Point Dry Needling, or Functional Dry Needling.
Dry needling is a therapeutic treatment procedure that relieves muscle tension and pain by inserting a thin, filament needle into the trigger point of the muscle. Trigger points can often be the direct source of pain and mimic symptoms of nerve pain, resulting in numbness, tingling, or shooting pain. The goal of inserting the needle into the muscle is to “reset”, or release, the tension and/or trigger point. Dry needling helps with both acute and chronic pain including, but not limited to the following conditions: headache, back and neck pain, tennis elbow, carpel tunnel, sciatic pain, muscle spasms, fibromyalgia, whiplash, athletic injuries, and more.
