Get ready to lace up your sneakers. Next month, on May 9th, the American Heart Association is joining with Physicians Mutual Insurance Group for the Omaha-Council Bluffs Heart Walk at Miller’s Landing (151 Freedom Park Road). The children’s walk starts at 8 a.m. with the Heart Walk Opening Ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by the Heart Walk. Local companies and individuals can form Heart Walk Teams now at www.heart.org/Omaha/. Donations can also be made through the website. The American Heart Association has a goal of raising $660,000 for life-saving research through the 2015 Omaha-Council Bluffs Heart Walk.
Heart Walk comes on the heels of National Walking Day. On April 1, the American Heart Association partnered with CHI Health locally for a lunch-time community walk at the Gene Leahy Mall downtown and full-day of heart-healthy events at the Oak View Mall and the Westroads Mall.
