Omaha Integrative Care is pleased to announce the addition of Director of Integrative Oncology Services.  Mrs. Mirmiran has been an integral part of the Omaha Integrative Care team and is now leading the organization’s development of enhanced integrative care services for cancer patients and their loved ones.  A licensed clinical social worker and therapist, Mirmiran earned a Masters degree in social work from Catholic University in Washington, DC and completed a concentration in health care social work and counseling in graduate school. She is also a Certified Group Psychotherapist through the American Group Psychotherapy Association and holds a Certificate in Integrative Mental Health.

Integrative Oncology means using a combination of approaches to treat cancer.  The Journal of the Society for Integrative Oncology defines integrative oncology as “both a science and a philosophy that focuses on the complex health of people with cancer and proposes an array of approaches to accompany the conventional therapies of surgery, chemotherapy, molecular therapeutics, and radiotherapy to facilitate health” (JSIO 2009).  Omaha Integrative Care will offer therapy and counseling, yoga, massage, nutritional counseling and acupuncture specific to the needs of cancer patients and their caregivers.
