NSSA Hosts Events in Conjunction With Stroke Awareness Month
Governor Pete Rickets has proclaimed May 2018 as Stroke Awareness Month in Nebraska, and the Nebraska State Stroke Association (NSSA) (www.NebraskaStroke.org) has announced special events taking place throughout the month.
On May 7, NSSA has organized a stroke camp fundraiser in Lincoln. Support the 2018 Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp by eating at Chipotle Mexican Grill, 6005 O St., between 5 – 9 p.m. on this day. Let the cashier know you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Lincoln Stroke Partnership.
In addition, May 17 will be the Strike Out Stroke event with the Lincoln Saltdogs on opening night at Haymarket Park. Game starts at 7:05 p.m. and tickets are $12. To reserve tickets, go to saltdogs.com/strikeoutstroke. The first 2,000 attendees will receive a magnetic chip clip with the FAST acronym to remind people of stroke symptoms. A portion of proceeds also support Stroke Camp 2018.
Lastly, on May 22, NSSA will have a Stroke Awareness table at the Bickford Health Fair at Bickford Senior Living (4451 Old Cheney Rd). Visit their booth to learn more about how you can support stroke survivors. If you can’t attend any of these events, consider donating to NSSA on May 31 for Give to Lincoln Day.
