Two of Omaha’s most prominent health systems—Methodist Health System and Nebraska Medicine—have selected Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB; NCBB.org) as their supplier of life-saving blood.

The partnership launched October 1, with blood products and services delivered through NCBB’s new distribution site on Pacific Street. To ensure a stable supply of blood, NCBB is encouraging all who are eligible to donate through community blood drives and at its new donor center opening this spring. The donor center will be located at 12100 Pacific Street and will welcome both blood and platelets donors. Eligibility information, as well as blood drive locations can be found at NCBB.org.

“Nebraska Community Blood Bank is proud to partner in our shared mission of saving lives with Methodist Health System and Nebraska Medicine,” said NCBB President Ellen DiSalvo. “We’re excited to bring our 50-year mission of saving lives to more of our neighbors in eastern Nebraska.”

The partnership between NCBB and the health systems was made possible through the Nebraska Health Network, a partnership between Nebraska Medicine and Methodist Health System. The physician-led Accountable Care Organization (ACO) was formed in 2010 to improve the health of all patients by delivering high-quality, affordable, and accessible health services throughout Nebraska and western Iowa.
