Jennie Edmundson Foundation: “Keeping Our Most Vulnerable Patients Safe”

For Iowa and eastern Nebraska, the Behavioral Health Services program at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital (MJE) (www.jehfoundation.org) has long been a valuable resource in addressing mental health care needs. The current crisis they are facing is, at a time when the stigma associated with acknowledging and seeking help for mental health issues is gradually disappearing, so are the available facilities and inpatient beds needed to treat these most vulnerable, at-risk individuals.

Within the next three months, the Behavioral Health Services unit at MJE must complete an exhaustive list of renovations and facility changes. These renovations are mandated by the Joint Commission, an independent organization that accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 healthcare organizations in the U.S.

The estimated $500,000 cost of these renovations are above and beyond the Behavioral Health Services annual budget. Today, more than ever before, MJE needs help from the community to meet these unexpected but necessary costs.

Please consider making a donation. Any amount, large or small, will have a positive impact on enabling MJE to meet the growing challenge of providing timely, comprehensive, and continuous mental health care.
