Flaherty Senior Consulting Offers Free Family Caregiver Workshops
Flaherty Senior Consulting (www.flahertyconsulting.net) is excited to offer three free family caregiver workshops, designed to help caregivers provide the best possible care for their loved ones with dementia. All sessions will be held on Saturdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Service Center of Compassion, 7400 Military Ave.
Is it Normal Aging or Something Else? (March 2) — It can be hard to tell the difference between age-related changes in memory and early signs of dementia. Memory often changes as a person grows older, but memory loss that disrupts daily life may be a sign of dementia. In this seminar, participants will learn what is normal aging and what are warning signs of dementia.
Are There Different Kinds of Dementia? (April 6) — This presentation is designed especially for family caregivers who are interested in learning about different types of dementia, including Alzheimers, Vascular, Frontal Lobe, and Lewy Body. The characteristics of each type and how to handle the symptoms in loved ones are explored.
Creating a Plan for Peace of Mind: Short Term and Long Term (May 4) —Participants will learn how to plan, short or long term, with and for their loved one. The presentations cover resources that are available to make a safe plan, along with respite options. PACE and Medicaid information will be discussed.
Participants may attend one or all of the Flaherty Senior Consulting sessions, and registration is required. While there is no charge to attend, a free-will offering will be taken. To register, call Sister Margaret Stratman at (402) 951- 3026 or email scc@osms.org with which session(s) you want to attend.
