American Red Cross Calls for Donors to Attend Upcoming Blood Drives
The American Red Cross (redcross.org) says the need for donated blood is dire, and urges those who are eligible to consider making an appointment at one of their upcoming blood drives in Lincoln or Omaha. By visiting www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive, you can search for upcoming blood drives near your location. This link will also allow you to sign up for a donation time and choose the type of donation you would like to give: blood, power red (in which you are able to give nearly twice the amount of red cells, therefore helping more patients), platelets, or AB plasma. Drives are held almost every day, starting as early as 7 a.m. and ending as late as 7 p.m. to ensure that there is an available time that fits your schedule.
The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The Red Cross shelters, feeds, and provides emotional support to victims of disasters from home fires to major events such as hurricanes, floods, or tornadoes. About 40% of the nation’s blood needed by patients is supplied by the Red Cross.
