The Alzheimer’s Association Midlands Chapter recently hosted a reception at UNMC to welcome the nation’s leaders in Alzheimer’s research and care on Thursday, March 20, 2014. The reception which began at 5:00 pm, welcomed Harry Johns, National President of the Alzheimer’s Association and Dr. Dean Hartley, Alzheimer’s Association National Director of Science Initiatives at the UNMC Michael Sorrell Center for Health Science Education, Linder Reading Room, Second Floor, 649 South 42nd St, Omaha, NE.  At the reception, Johns and Hartley were available for interviews to speak on the impact of Alzheimer’s and the latest in Alzheimer’s research.  Dr. Hartley then addressed the Dementia Care Conference hosted by Alzheimer’s Association Midlands Chapter on Friday, March 21.

Since 1982, the Midlands Chapter has provided education, information and support to individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and the related disorders, and supports the National Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association in its research for the prevention, cure, and treatment of AD and related disorders.
