The Nebraska Respite Network will be hosting its semi-annual Caregiver Retreat on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 (all day) through Thursday, April 25, 2013 (partial day) at Mahoney State Park in Ashland, Nebraska.  The caregiver retreat is an event that honors family and professional caregivers of loved-ones with special needs and encourages them to take time for respite.  The retreat provides a platform for information dissemination and self-care strategies, including relaxation techniques, methods of self-care, and stress-reducing activities.  Caregivers will have the opportunity to network with other caregivers from across the state, and will enjoy motivational speakers, art therapy, music therapy, wine and beer tasting, and much more!

The Nebraska Respite Network was established in 1999 to create a single point of contact to provide information and referral regarding respite resources.  Coordinators are located throughout the state in regions, and are charged with increasing the public’s awareness of respite and providing community outreach by involving interested stakeholders and building on existing resources, meanwhile increasing access to and the expansion of respite services.
