Girls Inc. (girlsincomaha.org) broke ground on its highly anticipated new South Omaha Center which will be located at 2108 L Street, behind South High School. Girls Inc. also announced a community campaign to raise the final $2.7 million of the $35
million project goal.

“This campaign isn’t just ours—it belongs to the entire community,” said Candias (Candi) Jones, CEO of Girls Inc. of Omaha. “Whether you give your time, financial resources, voice, or encouragement, every act of support matters. Together, we can build something greater than any of us could alone.”

The new facility will continue to be known as the Emma Lozier Center. Emma Lozier was the mother of longtime Girls Inc. supporter Allan Lozier, whose interest in helping women and girls came in part from the experiences of Emma and his sister Mary Traudt. At 36,000 square feet, Girls Inc.’s updated Emma Lozier Center will be nearly five times larger than the current South Omaha Center. The New South Center will accommodate 300 girls, offering a similar scope of services and opportunities to the Katherine Fletcher Center in North Omaha, including a full size gym, maker space, and instructional kitchen. The public is invited to support Girls Inc.’s efforts to raise the remaining $2.7 million by donating at (girlsincomaha.org) or visiting Girls Inc. Omaha at Girls Inc of Omaha (Facebook), @girlsinc_omaha (Instagram) or Girls Inc. of Omaha (LinkedIn).
