Carmelita De La Guardia, President of the local Dystonia Medical Research Support Committee, is pleased to announce that an important fund raiser was held October 2nd at America Park.

“Few people are aware of this muscular disease that impacts over 300,000 men, women and children in America.  Unfortunately I am one of them as my sister has this debilitating disorder” De La Guardia reported.

“According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Dystonias are movement disorders in which sustained muscle contractions cause twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal postures. The movements, which are involuntary and sometimes painful, may affect a single muscle, a group of muscles such as those in the arms, legs, or neck, or the entire body,” De La Guardia continued.  Carmelita De La Guardia, a world-famous singer, performed at the event along with Steve Fowler, a famous Broadway star, and Allen Anderson on guitar.
