The Community Foundation for Western Iowa (www.givewesterniowa.org) is thrilled to announce SHARE Iowa – a new initiative to support nonprofit organizations throughout western Iowa and to yield good in our communities. With the support of the Charles E. Lakin Foundation, Iowa West Foundation, Google, the Iowa Council of Foundations, and SHARE Good, the Community Foundation for Western Iowa will expand the Iowa footprint for increased engagement and nonprofit capacity-building to nine counties in western Iowa: Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby.

SHARE Iowa will offer a hyper-local response to directly benefit Iowans, parallel to that of SHARE Omaha, through financial giving, in-kind donations, and volunteerism within their unique communities and neighborhoods. SHARE Iowa and SHARE Omaha will work closely together on larger, community-wide campaigns, like Giving Tuesday 712 and 402, to make a bigger impact and maintain the connection that western Iowa has as an important part of the greater metropolitan area.

In preparation of the launch of SHARE Iowa, the Community Foundation has hired Catrina Trabal as the new community partnerships manager, and in her role, Catrina will work with nonprofits and the community to amplify a culture of giving in western Iowa. A SHARE Iowa launch party is scheduled for September 13 at Iowa Western Community College, and nonprofit trainings/orientations will begin soon. Both SHARE Iowa and SHARE Omaha are thrilled about this opportunity to impact even more nonprofits. For additional information and details, please contact Catrina at ctrabal@givewesterniowa.org.
