The MISS & Mr. South Omaha program from Cinco de Mayo Omaha (cdmomaha.com) embraces personal growth and development opportunities for Latinas and Latinos.

Participants attend weekly, age-appropriate workshops focused on career development, leadership, healthy lifestyle habits, community involvement, self-esteem, networking, and cultural awareness as well as confidence-building workshops focused on posing, modeling, hair, and makeup that prepare them for the fashion show and coronation. It’s a great way to gain experience, build confidence, and make new friends!

The program ends with a Coronation at the 2023 Cinco de Mayo festival hosted by Cinco de Mayo Omaha on May 12 through May 14. The event will feature live music and entertainment, carnival rides, a parade, food, exhibitors, luncheon, Qué Chulo dog contest, games, and concerts. The festival attracts 250,000 visitors from six surrounding states!

In honor of its rich Mexican heritage, Nebraska’s South Omaha Latino community has been hosting Mexican festivals in Omaha for decades, dating back to 1920. Throughout history the festivities have included live music, food, dancers, and parade – a tradition of cultural pride.
