Omaha Creative Institute recently announced that public art project Play Me, I’m Yours is coming to Omaha in August. Play Me, I’m Yours features artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram, and has been touring internationally since 2008. More than 700 pianos have been installed in 35 cities across the globe, from New York to London to Salt Lake City.

Ten pianos will be placed throughout the metro in public locations, including North and South Omaha, Midtown and West Omaha, Council Bluffs and the Old Market. Urban residents and visitors will have full access to the pianos, inviting active engagement. The pianos will be distinctively designed and decorated by area artists and local community members. Installation is set for Friday, Aug. 23; the pianos will be accessible during daylight hours through Saturday, Sept. 7.

Play Me, I’m Yours Omaha is presented by: H. Lee and Carol Gendler Charitable Fund, Tom and Mary Jetton Charitable Foundation, Robert B. Daugherty Charitable Foundation, Iowa West Foundation, Paul and Annette Smith, Alfred G. Thomsen Company Foundation, and Nebraska Arts Council.

Omaha Creative Institute is a collaborative entity providing creative experiences to the public and promoting artistic encounters. This is done through its Come Create It workshops, collaborative community events, children’s art camps, and team building experiences.
