Every year the Cox Classic Presented by Lexus of Omaha has been played at Champions Run Golf Course, fans have come to expect not only to see some great golf, but also something they haven’t seen in years past. This year proves to be no different.

Because the U.S. Senior Open was played in early July, that meant the Cox Classic had to move its date from late July/early August, to later in August, which couldn’t have worked out any better.

“The timing for us couldn’t be more perfect,” said Tournament Director Chad Mardesen, about the later start. “From a variety of perspectives, we knew a new date was necessary; ultimately that meant we became the last regular season tournament Tour.  So now, as an added benefit, after the trophy presentation to our champion on Sunday, we will also present PGATOUR cards for the 2014 season to the top 25 players on the money list.  All that adds up to a tremendous amount of drama at the Cox Classic which will be a lot of fun for fans.”

Every year, the top 25 players on the Web.com money list get their PGATOUR Cards at the conclusion of the season. That means several things for fans coming out to watch some great golf. You can be sure that the players right on that cutoff line will be dialing up their play to try to get their cards to play on the big tour next year. You will also be able to see and interact with the stars of tomorrow at the card ceremony which is a free event that will be open to the public.

“You are seeing the stars of today and tomorrow right here,” added Mardesen. “At the recent U.S. Senior Open, there were 21 players in that event that had played here at the Cox Classic. Every week on the PGA Tour you can see an average of 100 guys that have played in our event as well.”

By adding the card ceremony, it enhances the excitement and atmosphere at the best stop on the Web.com Tour, not to mention the hole with the biggest crowds: the 18th hole. As in years past, once the final putt drops there will be the trophy and check presentation ceremony on the 18th green. Then that will be followed by “The 25” Card Ceremony.

“Players tell me that Omaha is the stop they want to play in, because of the number of fans that come out and support them,” added Mardesen. “And they can’t wait to see how the community supports ‘The 25’ Card Ceremony, too.”

The Cox Classic Presented by Lexus of Omaha runs from Thursday, August 22 through Sunday, August 25. For more information on the schedule, you can visit www.coxclassic.com.
