Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum Offers Winter Camps

The Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum (www.SACMuseum.org) is offering camp experiences for winter break. The camps are selected from the most popular summer offerings and inspire cooperative learning in students as they work together to discover, learn, and work as a team. There are several camps to choose from with themes in aerospace, drones, game coding, and robotics.

Most camps are best for grades 1 – 6, and there will be a drone camp for grades 7 – 8. Camp dates range from December 26 through January 4, 2019.

Aerospace-themed camp Above & Beyond includes a mix of aviation and space activities with a “learn to fly” ride in flight simulators! Drone Challenge is perfect for those who want to learn how to fly a drone. Robotics camps are designed to utilize multiple hands-on activities with a variety of lower and higher tech equipment, such as Spheros, Cubelets, and Lego Robotics, designed to teach problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging way. Game On is a coding camp where campers build their own video game and unleash their creativity by devising a board or card game.

Cost is $75 – non-members / $50 – members for a one-day camp; $200 – non-members / $150 – members for the three-day camp. The museum offers before and after program care for $10, so parents can drop off as early as 7:30 a.m. and pick up at 5:30 p.m. Box lunches option is $6 per day.

Pre-registration is required on the Museum’s website (www.SACMuseum.org) or call the education department at (402) 944-3100 Ext. 204.
