SAC Museum Presents “SciPop Interactive” Featuring Superheroes and Harry Potter

The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum (sacmuseum.org) is proud to once again partner with the Nebraska Science Festival, an initiative of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), as a host facility for hundreds of youth who participate in this celebration of all things science.

On Saturday, April 6, guests ages 12 and under will received free admission for a SciPop Interactive event that is part of a month-long science festival. Sponsored by the Nebraska Local Section of the American Chemical Society and the University of Nebraska, SciPop Interactive includes science demonstrations and hands-on activities that highlight the mystery and illusion of pop-culture icons from Harry Potter, and comic books.

Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite costume in support of their favorite comic book or Harry Potter character. There will be fun hands-on activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including Herbology and Potions of Harry Potter lessons, explore the universe by playing with color and light like your favorite space explorers, or create your own ice ball like your favorite comic book superheroes and supervillains and more. There will be make-and-take projects for the first 500 youth, which include an invisible ink potion, and create a comic book.

Scientists will take the stage at various times and demonstrate the magic and mystery of chemistry in our world and beyond. Professor Rebecca Lai will discuss Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Among Us at 12 p.m. in the Museum’s theater. Guests will learn about the chemistry of several notable fantastic beasts from the world of Harry Potter world and a few of our more magical earthly creatures.

This Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum event is free for guests ages 12 and under. General admission is $12 for adults and $11 for seniors or military. The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Learn more online at sacmuseum.org or call the museum at (402) 944-3100.
