Community leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, nonprofits and residents will gather May 8 for the 19th annual Rebuilding the Village Conference at the Hilton Omaha, an event focused on strengthening communities through collaboration, innovation and economic empowerment. Hosted by the Empowerment Network, the conference brings together individuals and organizations to build stronger neighborhoods and economic opportunity.
The event serves as a national convening for leaders committed to creating thriving communities.

“The Rebuilding the Village conference is a place where like-minded people can share ideas, build partnerships and explore practical approaches to community development,” said Willie Barney, founder and CEO of the Empowerment Network. “Participants will leave with new connections, practical tools and strategies that will help strengthen their neighborhoods and communities.” The keynote luncheon will feature Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr., who will discuss place-based strategies that support economic growth, education and community well-being.

Sessions will include national leaders and local practitioners implementing programs designed to strengthen neighborhoods and expand opportunity. The conference aligns with the broader Transformation 2030 initiative, which focuses on improving education, employment, housing and civic engagement. Attendees will also have opportunities to support local Black-owned businesses during the Revive Black Business Expo.
