League One Volleyball (LOVB, pronounced “love”) (lovboma.com) is the newest professional sports league to take Omaha by storm. Omaha is one of six cities to receive a team in the inaugural season, joining Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison and Salt Lake City. LOVB is founded on creating a pathway for players, from club to pro. With a community-up model, each pro team is tied directly to their local LOVB junior volleyball clubs (Premier Nebraska Volleyball for Omaha), creating a real pathway for American professional volleyball to be built from the grassroots up. League One Volleyball’s Pro League features some of the best volleyball players in the world – with 17 Olympians including ten members of Team USA who earned a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Games. It also includes players from more than 20 countries, with 90% having represented their national teams. Highlighting LOVB Omaha’s roster are Nebraska alumnae Jordan Larson, Justine Wong-Orantes, Madi Kubik, Lauren Stivrins and Creighton alumna, Jaali Winters.
LOVB Omaha is set to begin competition in the league’s 14-week inaugural season this month, with its first match on the road against LOVB Houston on January 10. The team’s home opener takes place on January 24 at Liberty First Credit Union Arena against LOVB Madison at 7 p.m. Fans will only get six chances to catch the new home team in action, so don’t miss out on getting to watch the world’s best.
