Workplace engagement is declining globally, yet one of its most overlooked drivers remains unchanged: recognition. To address this gap, the inaugural Omaha IMPACT Awards are calling for final nominations through May 15th, 2026.
Founded by military spouse LaPora Lindsey, the awards specifically target the unsung workers of Douglas and Sarpy county economy— individuals in frontline, operational, and blue-collar roles whose essential work often remains under-recognized because it lacks traditional corporate visibility.
“Recognition has real consequences for retention and performance,” said Lindsey. “When people doing essential frontline work don’t feel seen, engagement drops. These awards are about shifting how we define impact to ensure the health of our local workplaces.”
The initiative is currently seeking nominations from the public for “unsung heroes” across Douglas and Sarpy County, including delivery drivers, technicians, retail staff, and janitorial leads. The goal is to honor those whose daily contributions are essential to organizational success, regardless of job title or seniority.
The inaugural Omaha IMPACT Awards event will be held in September 2026, but the community must act now to ensure their local heroes are in the running. Nominations are open until May 15th at omahaimpactawards.com.
