Nebraska Society of CPAs Presents Scholarships to 72 College Students

The Foundation of the Nebraska Society of CPAs (www.nescpa.org) set a new record for both the dollars awarded and the number of students receiving scholarships for the 2018-19 school year. At its May 2018 Board of Trustees’ meeting, the foundation awarded an all-time record of $127,500 in scholarships to accounting students (up from $125,000 in 2017 and $118,500 in 2016) at 14 Nebraska colleges and universities.

The scholarships ranged from $1,500 to $3,500 each. A total of 72 scholarships were awarded with 16 of the scholarships awarded to 150-hour students who are completing their college education requirement before sitting for the CPA (Certified Public Accounting) exam. One of the 150-hour scholarships is named for, and in part funded each year, by the Aureus Group of Lincoln. Three of the scholarships are named for the Society’s 2018 Award Recipients, one is presented on behalf of the foundation board, one is awarded in honor of the Society’s first Executive Director Arnold Magnuson, and one is given from the Al Brune Scholarship fund.

The mission of the Foundation of the Nebraska Society of CPAs, led by Don Kluthe of Omaha, is to support excellence in the Certified Public Accounting profession by providing scholarships to accounting students of Nebraska colleges and universities.
