Nebraska Society of CPAs Announces 2019 Summer Conference Lineup
The Nebraska Society of CPAs (nescpa.org) has announced the dates and information surrounding the Society’s 2019 summer conferences. The 23rd Annual Not-For-Profit Conference will take place on Wednesday, June 19, at The Cornhusker Marriott (333 S. 13th St., in Lincoln). Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:45 a.m. with the conference running from 8:20 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The event will be opened with an update on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) followed by numerous speakers from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), HRD Initiatives, KPMG, Frankel Zacharia, and more. Presentations will include information about tax reform and tax updates, security controls for the CPA, succession planning, the new not-for-profit reporting model, ethics, and the Nebraska attorney general’s update.
Secondly, the 38th annual Nebraska Governmental Accounting and Auditing Conference (GAAC) will take place on Thursday, June 20, and Friday, June 21, at The Cornhusker Marriott. Registration and breakfast will begin both days at 7:30 a.m. Thursday’s conference will start at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. Saturday’s festivities start at 8 a.m. and will end at 3:15 p.m.
This GAAC Conference will open with a presentation on the new 2018 Yellow Book by Mary Ann Hardy from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) followed by numerous speakers from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), state auditors, HRD Initiatives, Zelle HR, the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Cotton & Co., Frankel Zacharia, and more. Presentations will include information about GASB updates, security controls for CPAs, school districts, Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services (SSARS) updates, DHS cybersecurity offerings, DHS physical security offerings, ethics, state auditor’s updates, OMB Single Audit Requirements under Sec. 100-500, fraud, and more!
