Nebraska Entrepreneur Brings Big Smiles to Seniors Through GrandBox

It was April Kelly’s calling to help seniors that attracted her to GrandBox (www.mygrandbox.com), and in May of this year, she became its proud new owner. GrandBox is a subscription box company that brings joy to seniors across the United States by surprising them with a package of assorted goodies. It is an excellent way for children and grandchildren to show their love for their parents and grandparents by sending them goodies monthly or on special occasions. The box contains five full-size items that seniors will love, including snacks, and is customized with family photos and a personalized note.

As an avid entrepreneur, April became interested in owning a company like GrandBox when she started a volunteer group at her church to support residents at a nursing home in Nebraska. The group paired volunteers with the residents of the nursing home to spend time with them and participate in activities. April also moderated Bingo for the residents and treated them to candy and baked goods as winning rewards. She saw how happy the seniors were about the experience and thought, “wow, wouldn’t they love to receive other goodies on a regular basis from loved ones?”

As the new owner, April is excited about growing and diversifying the products that seniors receive in their boxes. She also plans to increase her presence on social media as she wants more people to discover the joy GrandBox can bring to the seniors in their lives.
