Four local chefs cooked at the September 2 celebration, where a $10,000 donation to Food Bank for the Heartland was presented.

Media were invited to celebrate the launch of Anchovy (anchovy.app) App 2.0 on Wednesday, September 2, at Riverview Lodge in Eugene T. Mahoney State Park. Lincoln entrepreneur Diane Temme Stinton unveiled the new version of the recipe and meal planning app she built, now used by home cooks across the country to make the chore of cooking easier and more social.

Temme Stinton is a mother of two with no professional culinary background, and CEO of TMCO Inc., the family-owned Lincoln metal fabrication company named Nebraska Manufacturer of the Year. She built Anchovy to solve her own dinner problem, and to bring back the social aspect of meals and cooking that she missed after the pandemic.

The event also marked a cookbook fundraiser that turned recipe sharing into giving. Home Cooking from the Heartland, the digital cookbook created inside Anchovy by KETV NewsWatch 7 anchor Julie Cornell, raised $10,000 for Food Bank for the Heartland.

Four local chefs where there cooking:

  • Chef Colin Kirke of SAVOR by Chef Colin Kirke, the Omaha private chef and catering kitchen.
  • Chef DeAndre Freeman of Freestyle Flavors Catering, known around Omaha for his mobile hibachi cooking.
  • Dana Peffer of Sgt. Peffer’s Cafe Italian, the longtime Omaha Italian restaurant with locations on Saddle Creek and in Millard.
  • Samantha Weatherford a food artist, who built a charcuterie and dessert board for the room.
