MOWBC Announces Open House with Grow Nebraska Women’s Business Center
The Metro Omaha Women’s Business Center (MOWBC, mowbcf.org) recently announced a collaboration with the new Grow Nebraska® Women’s Business Center (GNWBC) as a resource center for women entrepreneurs. A GNWBC Open House is scheduled for May 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at 5990 Sprague Plaza, in the Wurdeman Learning Center at Omaha Home for Boys. The new center will give women a place to get resources for their business, training, mentorship, connections to other agencies that can assist with funding, and more. Candice Price is the executive director of the new GNWBC, and MOWBC’s BC Clark will serve as the director of programming.
The Grow Nebraska® Women’s Business Center is one of 20 Women’s Business Centers across the country to launch with grant funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration in January. The centers are aimed at serving rural, urban, and underserved communities by aiding innovative and determined women entrepreneurs to build successful small businesses.
MOWBC was established in 2008 and has served more than 5,000 women with business training, events, stories of success, powerful lunch speakers, and annual grants for emerging women entrepreneurs. In April, they kicked off their Young Entrepreneur Girls Program (YEG) to serve the first cohort of 20 girls. YEG is a nine-month program that will provide personal development, professional development, internship, and business training to enhance girls’ skills for entrepreneurship.
